New Patients
South Florida Allergy & Asthma Specialists provides in depth and thorough evaluations and quality medical care for adults and children of all ages. Every exam and shot visit is conducted by Dr. Kevin Stabile, our board-certified medical doctor.
Our office is located in a medical building called the Med+Plex, adjacent to the Town Center Mall in Boca Raton and very convenient to patients traveling from Boynton Beach, Delray Beach, Lake Worth Beach, Deerfield Beach, Coral Springs and Parkland.
The most important part of your appointment at our office will be the history of symptoms that you present to Dr. Stabile. Be assured your visit will be thorough, non-rushed, and comprehensive. A new patient appointment will typically range from 1 to 1 ½ hours, and we offer testing on the very first visit.
For those patients who desire allergy testing at their initial visit, be advised that antihistamine medications, taken within 7 days of the appointment, may interefere with the accuracy of the allergy testing. Therefore please let us know when scheduling if you have been taking antihistamines.
Common antihistamines include:
- Actifed, Allegra, Atarax, Benadryl, Cetirizine, Clarinex, Claritin, Desloratadine, Dimetapp, Diphenhydramine, Doxepin, Fexofenadine, Hydroxyzine, Levoceritizne, Loratadine, Periactin, Phenergan, Triaminic, Xyzal, and Zyrtec
- Decongestant/antihistamine combination medications
- Prescription and over-the-counter nasal sprays such as Astelin, Astepro, Azelastine, Dymista, Olapatadine, Patanase, and Ryaltris
- Any over-the-counter allergy medicines or cold & cough remedies, such as Nyquil
- Any over-the-counter sleep aids − they usually contain sedating antihistamines
- Some medications for dizziness or motion sickness, such as Meclizine and Dramamine, which can also contain antihistamines
- Certain heartburn and reflux medicines, such as Zantac and Pepcid
Patients should continue to take, as prescribed, the following medications:
- All of your other non-allergy medications
- Antibiotics
- All asthma medications
- Oral steroid/prednisone
- Prescription nose sprays, with the exception of nose sprays listed above
- Decongestants that are not combined with an antihistamine
